Overview
This IDC Energy Insights report provides a forecast of spending on information technology and other intelligent technologies (e.g., smart meters, sensors) by water utilities for smart water solutions. The smart water market in the water utility industry is emerging as a similar and parallel market to the already established smart grid market in the electric utility industry, includes many of the same technology components, and is aimed at addressing global issues like water stress and aging infrastructure.
"Water utilities and technology vendors alike must understand the dynamics of the smart water market to be successful in achieving their goals," stated Rick Nicholson, group vice president, IDC Energy Insights.
