Milan Kalal is the lead analyst for the IDC Energy Insights program in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
In this role, Kalal is responsible for developing, driving, and implementing a utilities-dedicated research practice across the CEE region. He conducts primary and secondary research among both utility end-users and IT vendors to provide strategic quantitative and qualitative insight combined with consulting services addressing industry-specific IT drivers, decision making strategies, procurement patterns, and trends that affect the region's utilities.
In addition to his responsibilities for Energy Insights, Kalal also works with the IDC CEMA Vertical Markets team, managing quantitative research, IT spending forecast models, and client consulting engagements in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Focusing on vertical market behavior, the cross-technology nature of his position has enabled him to develop a balanced understanding of the hardware, software, and IT services markets.
Prior to joining IDC in 2009, Mr. Kalal worked for eight years as a consultant and project manager in the financial sector, specializing in strategic marketing. He has experience implementing customer insight strategies and tools, including CRM, data mining, geo-marketing, and competitive intelligence.
Kalal holds an MBA from Sheffield Hallam University in the U.K. and he earned his BA at Anglo-American College in Prague, Czech Republic.
